The Gray House will premier on Amazon Prime on February 21. It is an eight-part series produced by Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman and it is set in Richmond, Virginia during the Civil War. The series stars Daisy Head as Elizabeth Van Lew, the wealthy socialite who helped escaped slaves and relayed intelligence to the Union Army. She works with Jefferson Davis’s servant girl Mary Jane Richards, played by Amethyst Davis. Emmy-winner Mary-Louise Parker and Tony-winner Ben Vereen are also featured. The story is based on a true story which involves Jefferson and Varina Davis, Judah P. Benjamin, and other historical characters.
This is the second TV series based on Civil War Era subjects in the last six months.
