I found this ad for a newspaper called The Independent Monitor in the Mobile Register. It states right up front that this is a Whites-Only newspaper. The Independent Monitor was founded in 1837 and it went out of business in 1872.
The newspaper describes itself as an “unwavering advocate for the supremacy of the Caucasian race.”

I am often accused of applying modern standards to the past when I write about white supremacy after the Civil War. However, if you read the newspapers from that era you will see many times that writers call for white or Caucasian supremacy.
