Dedication Day at Gettysburg and Remembrance Day both fall on November 19 this year. Dedication Day marks the anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address dedicating the military cemetery there. Remembrance Day features a parade in the the town. Here is a link to the National Park Service site for the events, including a map showing road closures. Here is the schedule of events from the NPS:
This year, ALL Dedication Day (Ceremony in the Gettysburg National Cemetery) and Remembrance Day (Parade and Illumination) events fall on the SAME DAY. Please note the general events timeline and PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
9:00 am to 5:30 pm – FREE shuttle from Visitor Center Lot 3 to Cemetery Parking Lot.
10:15 am to 12:00 pm – Dedication Day Ceremony in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.
10:30 am to 4:00 pm – Road closures associated with the Remembrance Day Parade.
NOTE: More roads will be closed than is represented on the map below. Roads marked as closed are only those that immediately affect battlefield and cemetery visitors. Visitors SHOULD expect further road closures north of our area map.
1:00 pm – Remembrance Day Parade.
1:00 pm to 5:00 pm – David Wills House open.
5:30 pm to 9:00 pm – Remembrance Day Illumination in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.
Dedication Day Ceremony
Dedication Day 2022 will commemorate the 159th anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Full event details, including invited speakers, can be found on the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania website. FREE.

David Wills House
The home of Gettysburg attorney David Wills was the center of the immense clean-up process after the Battle of Gettysburg and where President Lincoln put the finishing touches on his Gettysburg Address. The David Wills House will be open November 18-19. FREE.

Remembrance Day Parade
An annual parade of Civil War living history groups is held in conjunction with the Gettysburg Address anniversary. The parade will line up on Middle Street and then proceed to Baltimore Street and then turn onto Steinwehr Avenue. FREE.

This event is sponsored by the Sons of Veterans Reserve, the Military Department of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Remembrance Day Illumination
This solemn commemoration features a luminary candle on each of the 3,512 Civil War soldier’s graves. Names of the fallen soldiers will be read throughout the evening. FREE.
