Just a reminder, while I write about modern subjects elsewhere, when I post on a history facebook group I follow the rules of the group restricting subject matter. In Civil War Truth the subject matter set out by the Administrator is “topics pertaining [to] all aspects of the Civil War, from the antebellum period through Reconstruction.” I have written elsewhere about Afghan refugees, religious persecution in South Asia, and a variety of other topics, but they do not fit into the definition of American history from the Antebellum period through Reconstruction. On other facebook pages the subject matter is confined to purely military matters, so I only post about those topics that are military in nature on them. Other pages focus on a particular historical figure, Pat Cleburne for example, so I will only post on that figure on those pages. I try to respect the decisions administrators make about the subject matter of their pages. I appreciate that my posts are almost never deleted by moderators, even though some are viewed as controversial by some members of the pages. I have topics that interest me, Reconstruction and immigration history for example, and much of what I write focuses on those topics. I am often challenged by other members to write about something else. I am not sure why they do that, since they could write about the subjects they want covered at least as well as I could!

Do the SC schools teach Civil War now? And if so what do they teach? I retired from BCBS of SC as an IS Trainer and Course Writer. When I was teaching in Florence, SC, one time around 1999, I mentioned Sherman destroying Columbia….I heard one young lady turn to another young lady and ask, ” What was Sherman?” And the other lady shrugged her shoulders and said, ” A tornado, I guess.” I stopped and explained briefly and they said they never learned that in school.
