The airport at Rochester, New York unveiled a statue of Frederick Douglass last Friday. The airport, Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport, is named for Abolitionist leader. Douglass lived in Rochester for many years and published his newspaper, The North Star, there. Olivia Kim, Associate Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Art and Design, created the statue. There are fourteen other statues of Douglass in the Rochester area.
