The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield will commemorate the 200th Birthday of Ulysses S. Grant’s Birthday on April 27th. Featured will be a program by the institution’s historian. Here is the announcement:
Abraham Lincoln led the nation through its greatest crisis, but he couldn’t have succeeded without the generalship of Ulysses S. Grant. Join ALPLM Lincoln Historian Christian McWhirter for a special program celebrating Grant’s 200th birthday. We’ll show rarely seen items from the library’s collection illuminating Grant’s life—from his hardscrabble early years, through the Civil War and his presidency, to his retirement and authorship of his famous memoir.
This will be a “hybrid” event with the opportunity to attend in-person or virtually. The program will take place in our library’s multi-purpose room on Wednesday, April 27 at 12pm. The event is free; reservations are not required.
To watch virtually via Facebook Live, please go to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Facebook page. Open the page at the appointed time and scroll to the post highlighting the live event. Once you’re there, simply click on the image and watch the live video stream.
Just a note for those from outside Illinois who may be joining the video stream, it begins at noon Central Daylight Savings Time.
