New York State Museum Albany

Next to the New York State Museum, on the left in the photo below, is the Corning Tower. You can reach it through the Albany Mall’s underground concourse. Take the elevator to the top of the 44 story building, a free ride, and you can look down upon the city, the Hudson Valley and see the Catskills, the Berkshires, and the Adirondacks in the distance. Most visitors spend fifteen to thirty minutes on the Observation Deck.

Here I am looking North with the Hudson River below and the Adirondack Mountains in the distance.

Here is a shot of the State Capitol, begun right after the Civil War. Ulysses S. Grant lay in state inside the entrance facing my camera. In the background are the Adirondacks.

Below is Albany City Hall, built between 1880 and 1883.
