The new 1619 Project put out by the New York Times has both been incredibly popular and very controversial. The project observes the 400th Anniversary of arrival of the first slaves in Virginia. Last week’s Slate Political Gabfest devoted its first twenty minutes to the 1619 Project. The discussion involves Wesley Morris of the New York Times who is participating in the project.
