James Muller,, the Sheriff of Adams County in Gettysburg, posted on his personal Facebook page an image of a truck covered in what appears to be blood and captioned it with “The All New Dodge Ram Protestor Edition.” Here is the post:
There were two protests in Gettysburg over the last three days, one in the city and one at the National Military Park. I was at the protest at the park. There were about 75 people there. No one was violent. Here is a picture of the rally:
Why would a sheriff whose county relies so much on tourist dollars be posting an image of a truck that appears to have been rammed into protesters? Why is he calling to mind the bloody ramming that killed one person at Charlottesville, Virginia on August 12, 2017 in which one woman was killed by a far-right fanatic? Charlottesville, which had been known as an historic town with ties to Thomas Jefferson and for it excellent University, is now remembered as a place of terror and death. Does the sheriff want Gettysburg, known for its association with Lincoln and Gettysburg College, to also be known for a terrorist vehicle attack? Or does the sheriff just expect that the majority of Adams County residents who voted for Trump and himself would engage in mass killings of protesters?
I have never seen a law enforcement professional publicly post this call for political violence. The voters of Adams County, whether Republican or Democrat, should demand he resign. People should not come into Adams County and face violence.
