In my research I came across this report from the Louisiana General Assembly on racial and political violence in the state during the lead-up to the Election of 1868. The incidents covered ran up to September 24, 1868, hence the report did not cover the period of most intense violence right before the voting took place. A supplemental report was published in 1869 covering the time after September 24. The committee was made up of five members of the legislature, taken from both houses. A majority of the members were Republicans. The 1868 Report may be found here. I will post some excerpts from the report.
