Cynthia Erivo’s performance of the theme song from her movie Harriet about the life of Harriet Tubman was one of the highlights of last week’s Oscars. The song Stand Up is a moving new piece of music about the African American freedom struggle. Give it a listen.

  1. I avoid awards ceremonies (such as the Oscars) like the plague, so I missed this wonderful performance. Thank you, Pat, for posting this!

    1. Thanks for reading Mary. When I saw the movie I stuck around at the end to hear the theme. I was surprised when I read the credits to find that the star of the movie was also the singer.
