Children of Gettysburg 1863 Museum Now Open at Gettysburg

A new museum focused on helping children visiting Gettysburg learn about what happened there in 1863 has been opened by the non-profit Gettysburg Foundation. Called the Children of Gettysburg 1863 Museum, it is located at the Rupp House at 451 Baltimore Street in Gettysburg. At the time of the battle, there were six children living at the house. The museum is free for kids 12 and younger with a paying adult. Adult tickets are $7.50. The museum tells the real stories of children who lived in Gettysburg at the time of the battle. Children learn about medical care for wounded soldiers that took place in homes throughout the small city and about what families had to do to stay safe when fighting broke out.
