City Point, Va. will observe the Ulysses S. Grant Bicentennial at his headquarters there. City Point is part of the Petersburg National Battlefield. According to the announcement:
A celebration of Gen. Grant’s200th birthday will be held on the property where he located his headquarters as he worked in 1864… to end the Civil War at City Point in Hopewell. Join Speakers Howard Bartholf (SUV) and Dr. Sean Heuvel, who is in the Department of Leadership & American Studies at Christopher Newport University will be the speakers, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony and you will be able to chat with Gen. Grant and learn more about his thoughts on the Civil War, as well as his experiences as the 18th President of the United States. There will be a Children’s Play Area with toys of the 19th century.
