New Monument to USCT Dedicated in Ypsilanti On Juneteenth Holiday

On the Federal Juneteenth holiday on Monday, a new monument to the United States Colored Troops was unveiled in Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Pictured above are three USCT soldiers depicted on the monument. The cemetery is the final resting place of many members of the USCT and is believed to hold more of these Black Civil War soldiers than any other cemetery in Michigan.
