Pennsylvania Gov Candidate Doug Mastriano Draws Criticism for Posing in Confederate Uniform

Candidate for Pennsylvania governor Doug Mastriano is drawing criticism for posing in Confederate uniform for a faculty photo at the Army War College during the 2013-2014 school year. Although fifteen of the faculty in the photo are wearing modern military uniforms or 21st Century civilian clothing, several have at least some have historical elements to what they are wearing. Mastriano is the only faculty member in Confederate gear. Below is a picture showing all of the faculty. Mastriano is on the far-left of the photo.

Mastriano was on the Army War College (AWC) faculty until 2017. The War College is located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and every school year it takes a faculty photo. Reuters broke the story today saying that “Although one man wears a trench coat and sunglasses and another carries an aviator’s helmet, Mastriano is the only one wearing a Confederate uniform.”

  1. Thank you for bringing this to attention.

Mastriano has nothing to explain or apologies for in any context for appearing in a Confederate uniform.

To dislike/disagree what the Confederacy fought for is one thing.

But the Americans whom wore those uniforms have no more reason to be ashamed than the Irish whom wore these-
