What Klansmen Ate in 1868

The Memphis Avalanche was one of the most pro-KKK newspapers in the country. This article from the Avalanche is poking fun at African Americans and Republicans by describing the Klan as supernatural. Like the modern Alt-Right, Klan supporters would describe the Klan as an ironic “joke” and not a threat at all.

For those of you interested in the Memphis Avalanche, it merged with the Memphis Appeal in the 19th Century which was then called the Memphis Appeal-Avalanche. A later merger created the modern Memphis Commercial Appeal, part of the Gannett chain.
